Doug Case will provide training on the latest, 12th edition of Robert’s Rules of Order - very newly revised, on September 1. Many club bylaws refer to the most recent edition of Robert’s, so this is the one we should be using.
You can read more about the latest changes at robertsrules.com and you can download the Appendix Sample Rules for Electronic Meetings by clicking here to access the PDF version with correct referencing to the currently published Robert’s Rules of Order Newly Revised 11th Edition.
Robert’s Rules is the guide for parliamentary procedure used by the San Diego County Democratic Party, and all of the chartered Democratic clubs in the county.
Time spent learning Robert’s is time well spent, as it’s the most widely used manual on parliamentary procedure in the United States with an estimated 90% of professional parliamentarians listing Robert’s as the manual of authority (ref).
If you want a copy of the latest edition be sure to order through your local book store, or if you prefer an E-book (as the new edition has numbered paragraphs to reference) then consider ordering from Kobo, and tie your Kobo account to your local bookstore, who will get a share of the profits.
Doug Case is the Director of Political Affairs for State Senator Toni Atkins, Past Chair and Member, Community Review Board on Police Practices at City of San Diego, San Diego State, Coordinator, Fraternity & Sorority Life and President of Democrats for Equality (formerly known as the San Diego Democratic Club).

As Doug has every year since its beginning, he will again be participating in the annual AIDS Walk San Diego, in memory of the friends and associates lost to AIDS during early years of the pandemic. Doug remains committed to participating every year until there is a cure. Because of the COVID-19 situation, the event is being held a little differently this year in order to ensure social distancing. Participants will complete the walk on their own during the week of September 21-27.
Funds raised provide essential services − food, shelter, healthcare, counseling, etc. − to women, men and children fighting HIV/AIDS. AIDS Walk also serves as an important vehicle for HIV/AIDS education and prevention. Your donation benefits dozens of HIV/AIDS service and education programs throughout San Diego County.
