Running an effective online meeting relies on teamwork. How to let participants into the meeting, credential members, moderate a discussion, take notes, keep an eye on the clock, fix technical glitches, read the chat, and appear calm - all at the same time?
We’ll share best practices, answer questions and provoke some discussion.
How to make meetings safe and welcoming?
Should the Chat be open/closed, for all or part of the meeting?
With the Raised Hand in Zoom, how to balance speakers for/against a position?
How and when to use Breakout Rooms?
Endorsements & Resolutions
Filing has closed and candidate lists are now available from the San Diego County Registrar of Voters and the City Clerks.
Every club, through the Party, has access to Votebuilder to easily confirm the registration of candidates.
Chartered clubs shall endorse only registered Democrats
Non-Democratic candidates may only be rated qualified or unacceptable
Chartered clubs shall notice their full membership that endorsement consideration will be made in a particular race or races at least fourteen (14) days prior to the meeting. Notification shall be made by email to the full membership or, absent an email address, by U.S. Mail or an alternative method as specified in the club’s bylaws.
Reasonable attempts are made by the club to notify and invite all declared candidates who the Party has established with certainty are registered Democrats regarding the date, time, and place of the club’s meetings and of the club’s endorsement process at least five (5) business days prior to the meeting. A copy of any meeting notice sent to candidates shall be supplied via email to the Director of Clubs and the SDCDP.
If your club bylaws also requires candidates to complete questionnaires ahead of an endorsement consideration, be sure to send those out to candidates in time.
There is no requirement for clubs to endorse the same candidate as the Party.
For club Associate Members to be able to cast a vote at the Area Caucus endorsement recommendation meetings the club’s endorsements must be entered here.
There is no requirement for clubs to register resolutions with the Party. Clubs can choose to submit resolutions to the Party by sending them to the Chair Pro Tem, who chairs the Resolutions Committee.
The next Resolutions Committee meeting will take place on Tuesday, August 18th at 6:30PM. If you have a resolution for consideration, please submit it to Becca Taylor as soon as possible -- no later than Monday, August 17th.
I look forward to seeing/hearing you this Saturday, 10AM - Zoom meeting registration
Cheers, John
